Commercial Diving & Marine Operations

Our Services

Planning & Operational Support

We can support projects from the earliest stages of development through mobilisation, field operations and completion.

Examples of the services we can provide can include:

  • Technical guidance throughout production and expedition development
  • Assistance with diving and maritime logistics and project planning
  • Development of bespoke method statements and safe systems of work
  • Independent review of operational documentation, risk assessments and control measures
  • Diving contractor selection and compliance assessment for clients
  • Specialist personnel and equipment sourcing
  • Remote and challenging-location experience
  • On-site diving and maritime oversight for clients
  • Liaison with production, expedition and specialist contractor teams

Early involvement allows potential operational, regulatory and logistical issues to be identified before deployment, helping avoid unnecessary delays, unsuitable arrangements or expensive last-minute changes in the field.

Underwater Filming & Media Operations

Underwater production presents a combination of creative, technical and safety requirements that conventional diving arrangements do not always address effectively.

We work closely with production teams to develop diving arrangements appropriate to the intended activity, location, personnel, equipment and filming objectives whether in the field or construction of underwater stages and props in specialist tanks.

This can also include assisting with sourcing specialist equipment and personnel for projects involving both commercial SCUBA or Surface Supplied Diving Equipment for set construction.

Our role is to help production teams achieve their objectives while ensuring that diving operations are properly planned, appropriately resourced and managed within a robust safety framework.

Expedition & Remote Operations

Expedition environments frequently require decisions to be made well before a team reaches the field.

Access, communications, emergency response, medical provision, environmental conditions, equipment availability, local infrastructure and the capability of personnel can all influence whether a proposed diving operation is viable.

Our experience allows us to provide practical support in assessing these factors and developing realistic operational and contingency arrangements for remote or logistically challenging projects.

Where specialist resources are required, we can assist with identifying and sourcing suitable diving equipment, contractors and experienced personnel.

UK Diving Compliance & Assurance

All commercial diving projects undertaken within Great Britain fall under the HSE Diving at Work Regulations 1997 (DWR97) which place specific duties on all persons involved in the diving operation including clients, site owners and operators and others.

Our team specialise in providing fully independent third-party assurance and guidance to clients on the Diving at Work Regulations 1997 (DWR97) and the applicable HSE framework in relation to their responsibilities under Regulation 4 of the DWR97. This can range from support with the initial selection and assessment of appointed diving contractors and proposed diving arrangements to on-site project audits and oversight to ensure that the project aligns with current regulatory and appropriate national standards.

Typical examples of our assurance procedures include:

  • Reviews of personnel competence and qualifications
  • Assessment of diving management arrangements
  • Comprehensive evaluation of risk assessments and operational controls
  • Project documentation reviews
  • Diving and safety equipment audits to national and international standards
  • Detailed appraisals of emergency arrangements

Our assessment goes beyond documentation alone. We consider whether the proposed arrangements are appropriate for the actual operation, environment and objectives of the project.

Field Support

Where required, we provide on-location technical and operational support, working alongside production teams, expedition leaders and diving contractors.

This provides an experienced independent point of reference during field operations and helps ensure that diving activities remain consistent with agreed plans, risk controls and operational requirements as conditions evolve.

For projects involving multiple contractors or specialist disciplines, we can also help coordinate the interface between production requirements, diving operations and wider maritime activities.

Independent, Practical Expertise

Successful media and expedition projects require more than just regulatory compliance. They require arrangements that work in the real world.

Our consultancy is built around practical operational experience and independent technical judgement. We aim to identify problems early, develop workable solutions and give clients confidence that specialist diving and maritime activities have been properly considered before teams enter the water.

Whether you are developing an underwater documentary, television production, specialist filming sequence, scientific expedition or remote exploration project, we can provide support from initial feasibility and planning through to mobilisation and operations in the field.
